Detailed user guide
TestFlight 1.1.0 (161) / App Store 1.0.19 (160) · Updated 2026-11-02
This guide describes TestFlight version 1.1.0 (161). The public App Store version remains 1.0.19 (160), contains Japanese labels and may differ from the new route priorities and confirmation flow. Version 1.1.0 has been submitted and is waiting for review; it is not yet approved or publicly released.
Version 1.1.0 (161) supports Japanese, English, German, French, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese interface text. Within a reasonable detour range, routes can prioritize fewer U-turns, recorded narrow or residential roads, sharp bends and consecutive maneuvers over travel time. Entered vehicle dimensions are compared with available road restrictions for reference, without guaranteeing access or turning feasibility along the whole route. Candidates requiring review do not start guidance until you are parked, check the route and signs, and explicitly confirm.

1. First launch and location
Install and open CamperNav from the App Store. Allow location and enable Precise Location for map positioning and guidance. If your position is unavailable, check iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → CamperNav. Maps, place search and route calculation require an internet connection. In 1.1.0, the seven interface languages follow device/app language settings. Get the public version from the App Store; invited 1.1.0 testers use TestFlight. If current location cannot be verified, route creation, guidance start/resumption and rerouting stop. Check location permission and GPS while safely parked.
2. Set up your vehicle
Open Vehicle from the bottom menu. Enter the vehicle name, actual height, width including mirrors, length, weight, ground clearance and turning radius. Include roof equipment and loads. Check trailer and fuel settings, then tap Save vehicle settings. Keep separate profiles for different vehicles. Entering dimensions does not guarantee road clearance or legal access. Version 1.1.0 compares the values you enter. Cargo, passengers and towing weight are not added automatically; axle load, total towing length and other conditions can remain unverified. Check the actual loaded vehicle while parked.
3. Dual maps and controls
Choose Dual maps to compare local and wider views. Drag each map to pan and pinch to zoom; Current location resumes following. Adjust the split in Settings. Swipe the bottom menu down to hide it; tap or swipe up on its remaining handle to restore it. Keep-awake is in general settings. Junction guidance may temporarily zoom the map.
4. Find a destination and set home
Open Navigation or search in the main menu. Enter a place name or address, select a result and verify its location, address and entrance. Save it with Save as home to use Go home later. If no results appear, include the country or city. A place marker may not be its vehicle entrance; check Go to parking entrance when available.
5. Route preferences and comparison
In Route, choose a preference and motorway/toll options. In 1.1.0, the easier-driving and large-vehicle priorities favor fewer U-turns, recorded narrow or residential roads, sharp bends and consecutive maneuvers over time, within a reasonable detour range. The detour guideline is 1.5 times the shortest time plus 5 minutes, or 1.5 times the shortest distance plus 2 km. Alternatives exceeding it or containing U-turns require review while parked. Height, width including mirrors and entered weight are checked against retrieved road restrictions for reference; candidates with incompatible information are excluded. Checks cover sampled points only, and data can be missing, outdated or misplaced. Vertically separated roads such as bridges/tunnels, conditional restrictions, axle loads and turning feasibility can remain unverified. Missing restrictions do not prove access. Compare the map, distance, time and cautions, and follow local signs.
6. Multiple stops
Set the final destination first. Choose a place from Along route or Nearby places, then Add stop. Review all stops in the itinerary and reorder them using the list or up/down controls. Select a stop and confirm to remove it. Changes recalculate the journey through the remaining stops to the final destination. Check order, distance and time before starting guidance.
7. Start, voice and end guidance
Select a route and choose Start guidance. For candidates needing review, such as U-turns or large detours, Review route opens only when an accurate current location and stationary status can be confirmed. Park safely, check the route, cautions and local signs, then choose Start guidance with this route. Confirmation applies once to the current candidate and vehicle/route conditions; it does not guarantee access or turning feasibility. Canceling or changes to conditions, stationary status or location accuracy prevent starting and require another review. When actual current location cannot be verified, the initial browsing position or an old saved location is not used as the starting point. Automatic rerouting does not silently switch to candidates requiring confirmation. Voice and frequency are in navigation settings. Ending guidance and clearing the destination, waypoints and route are separate actions.
8. Use with CarPlay
Connect an iPhone to a compatible head unit and open CamperNav in CarPlay. Set vehicle details and prepare the trip on iPhone first. In CarPlay, choose destinations, routes or places from the menu and start guidance. In dual-map mode, use each map's zoom buttons; recenter after panning. Touch and pinch support varies by head unit and OS. An iPad cannot act as the CarPlay source device. In 1.1.0, candidates needing review also require explicit confirmation while parked in CarPlay. Dismissing the screen does not start guidance. Check which map is selected before zooming, and return to current location after panning.
9. Instruments and mount calibration
Open Instruments, level and altitude log in general settings for speed, altitude, pitch and roll, with portrait or landscape full-screen display. Before tilt use, park safely on level ground, secure the iPhone, choose its mounting direction and save calibration. Driving tilt is a damped estimate affected by acceleration and cornering. “—” can mean missing or insufficient sensor/GPS data. These readings do not replace vehicle-specific measuring instruments.
10. Share locations with companions
Both people need CamperNav or CamperNav Go and iCloud. In Companion location sharing, choose a display name and duration, explicitly start sharing and send an Apple invitation. The other person reviews and joins it. Each person must start their own sharing for mutual visibility. Check the background-update toggle and location permission for updates when the app is closed. Expired or stale locations disappear; stop/delete ends sharing. Offline or force-quit continuity is not guaranteed.
11. Plus, first-use access and restore
Open Settings → General settings → View ad-free Plus plans to load Apple's products and prices. Seven-day first-use access with ads is separate from an Apple introductory subscription offer; always read the current purchase sheet. An active purchase unlocks Plus and removes ads. Restore with Restore purchases using the same Apple Account. Manage or cancel renewal in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. If products are missing, check internet and sign-in, then retry. Japan App Store prices are scheduled to change to JPY 600/month and JPY 6,000/year on November 4, 2026. Until then, they remain JPY 480/month and JPY 3,900/year. The weekly plan continues unchanged. These plans renew automatically. Local prices and the timing for existing subscribers follow Apple’s purchase display, notices, consent requirements and renewal dates. For 7 days after first launch, Plus features are available with ads without a purchase, automatic billing or automatic conversion to a subscription. Basic maps, search and navigation remain available afterward. This first-use access is separate from any Apple introductory free trial.
12. Saved data, coverage and troubleshooting
Saved itineraries, addresses, contacts and route summaries are different from maps and recalculation that need internet; this is not a complete offline map. Japan-focused rain, regulation and speed-limit data do not cover the world. Missing restrictions do not mean unrestricted access. Follow local signs and laws if guidance differs. For support, provide device, OS, app version/build and reproduction steps. Crop screenshots to avoid sharing unnecessary personal or location information.
